We support our members and meet their needs through a variety of subsidiary companies where we feel the need to specialise exists. Currently our subsidiaries are:
Scotsure MBI Ltd -
Sells used vehicle insured warranties, dealer guarantees and ancillary products. e.g. GAP, RTI, Roadside Assistance, MOT Insurance, Tyre, Lock and Key insurance. This company acts as a third party administrator and also handles all the claims on the used car warranties and dealer guarantees. Regulated by the FSA.
The Scottish Motor Show Ltd –
Since 1925 we have owned and run the Scottish Motor Show which until 2003 was held at the SECC in Glasgow. As we acknowledge that the appeal of static Motor Shows has diminished greatly we now run the Show as a two day event in conjunction with Scottish Motorfair as an annual event at the Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife.
SMTA (Trading Partners) Ltd -
This is a buying group formed by a small group of SMTA members in 2005. The SMTA bought the company in the summer of 2008 and it is now a wholly owned subsidiary. It acts as a group purchasing vehicle supplying those members who sign up to it with certain products and services at the keenest of prices. Included amongst these are tyres, number plates, oils and lubricants, stationery, workwear, tyre disposal services, valeting consumables and equipment and workshop capital equipment.
Scotsure Insurance Company Ltd –
Our own used vehicle insured warranty and dealer guarantee company. Regulated by the FSA as an insurance company since the inception of the FSA it is now in “run-off” since transferring its sales and administrative functions to Scotsure MBI Ltd – see above.
All of our other services to members are handled by the SMTA itself. Government Lobbying, Apprentice training, the provision of motor trade insurance, reduced rate utilities and credit/debit card charges, our MOT QC scheme, our Customer Service Standards service, our Health & Safety consultancy service, our Employment Law service and the provision of Contracts of Employment. All of these services are aimed at helping members to reduce the costs of running their businesses and, at the same time, helping them to ensure that their businesses are operated within the law.
